Text | Edward Clay O’Rear b. 2 Feb 1863 near Camargo, Kentucky. At age 16 he worked at a newspaper in Morgan County, Kentucky. In 1882 he was admitted to the bar after studying with Col. John Thomas Hazelrigg, married his daughter that year. Moved to Mr. Sterling in 1886. Was elected judge in 1893 and served as a judge until 1911. Ran for governor but lost in 1911 due to his advocacy of prohibition. Relocated to Frankfort afterwards. Remarried Mabel Taylor in 1933. | |
